Teresa McDaid honoured at Mayor’s Reception The members of the Letterkenny / Milford Municipal District were delighted to confer a Civic Honour on Teresa McDaid at a reception held at the Public Services Centre, Letterkenny last evening.

The members of the Letterkenny / Milford Municipal District were delighted to confer a Civic Honour on Teresa McDaid at a reception held at the Public Services Centre, Letterkenny last evening.

The award is in recognition of Teresa’s outstanding contribution to local and internation sports. Teresa was the team manager of the Irish Athletics Team during the recent Olympic Games in Paris and filled a similar role in the previous Olympics in Tokyo 2021.

Some notable highlights in Teresa’s career were being the first female manager of an Irish athletics team, being named Athletic Ireland Coach of the Year twice, and receiving a leadership award from European Athletics.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle, Mayor congratulated Teresa on her success and acknowledged the important role model that she has become to the young people in the community.

Digitised Biography of Niall Mac Giolla Bhrighde Launched

It was a full house at the Hub in the village of An Craoslach on Thursday night where people gathered to honour Niall Mac Giolla Bhrighde. Mac Giolla Bhrighde is best remembered as a local farmer from An Fhaiche Mhór, An Craoslach who was represented in court by Patrick Pearse when he was fined for having his name written in Irish on his cart in 1905.
