05/01/2023 - Donegal County Council will be accepting planning applications and submissions via the e-Planning portal from the 5th of January 2024

The Local Government Online Planning portal was designed to streamline the application for planning permission across all Local Authorities in Ireland.

The online portal is easy-to-use and moves the process into an environmentally friendly one that is also user friendly and facilitates applicants to have 24/7 access to their planning application.

You can register your own account, submit documents online with your application and submit further information at a later stage if requested. You can view previously submitted applications on your dashboard, as well as the status of applications quickly and easily.

The new portal, which can be accessed at https://planning.localgov.ie/  allows agents, developers, and members of the public to lodge their planning applications and to make third party submissions/observations electronically.

The new system offers improved efficiencies including:

  • Online payment of planning fees by card
  • Reduced Printing Costs
  • Faster availability of information for the public
  • Environmentally Friendly - Reduced usage of paper
  • Delivers on the Government strategy to move more public services online.

You are encouraged to register on the e-planning portal, where an information video and user guide are available at the following link-  What is Online Planning? | Planning (localgov.ie)

The portal will also shortly allow the public to view and make submissions on Part 8 schemes.
