Tenants of one year or more may be eligible to purchase their house at a discount, based on household income, provided they meet the eligibility cirteria for the scheme. Where income from social welfare payments (including pensions) by the Department of Social Protection is being relied on to meet the minimum income requirements, at least one named tenant must be in receipt of income from employment.
The Incremental Purchase Scheme is a discount Scheme based on household income that enables the State to share in the profits from resale during the twenty to thirty year period for which the house is subject to an incremental purchase charge. The Scheme only applies to new dwellings which have been specifically designated by the Council as being eligible for purchase under the scheme. When a tenant is being offered a dwelling, they will be advised if it is being designated under the Incremental Purchase Scheme.
