Strategic Projects

Donegal County Council is committed to working in partnership with a range of public, private and community sector stakeholders to develop a range of strategic tourism projects, designed to diversify, enrich and improve the tourism products throughout the County. The development of our iconic attractions and attractions with potential to become major visitor destinations is a key element of the overall tourism development strategy for Donegal County Council. The development of strategic tourism projects will allow Donegal to meet its full potential as a world-class visitor destination attracting additional overseas visitors, increasing dwell time in the County and enticing visitors to make more overnight stays. Donegal County Council had led out on the development of a range of strategic development initiatives in the last number of years such as the Sliabh Liag Development Project, Inch Levels Development Project and Malin Head Development Project. These along with other projects with significant potential, for example Fanad Lighthouse Project, Ards Forest Park, Walking and Cycling Development, Diaspora development, all form the basis of Donegal County Council’s strategic tourism projects strategy.
